AND THEN Poem by Shuntaro Tanikawa

AND THEN

When it is summer
again
cicadas cry

fireworks are
frozen
in my memory

a distant country is
hazy, but
the Cosmos is right in front of my nose

what divine grace —
a man
can die

leaving behind
just a conjunction:
and then
