The rustle in the leaves, a gentle sound,
A tiny creature moves upon the ground.
No sudden move, no loud and startling cry,
Just quiet breathing, watching with my eye.
A bird might land, a squirrel might pause and stare,
They sense a stillness, nothing to despair.
No hunting hunger, no intent to harm,
Just a warm heart, a peaceful, loving charm.
The deer may graze, the fox may softly tread,
Because no fear is planted in their head.
From smallest bug to creatures large and grand,
They find a safety when I understand.
It's not the number, or how close they creep,
But that they trust the promises I keep.
To be a friend, a silent, gentle soul,
And make each wild heart feel completely whole.
