Annie Kate Poem by Francis Duggan

Annie Kate

With shoulder length wavy hair of chestnut brown
Lovely Annie Kate the pride of the town
And lovely brown eyes and a beautiful smile
In her early twenties free of conceit and guile
She yearns for to travel to places elsewhere
Big towns and big cities in the big World out there
For love and for marriage she feels she has time
And she is a few years short of her physical prime
Next month she is bound for the U S of A
In the prime of the Spring in the northern May
And some of Canada and South America she hopes for to see
So much living to do for one of twenty three
And love marriage and children can wait for awhile
So says lovely brown haired Annie Kate with the beautiful smile.
