Anomalous Thermal Behavior Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

Anomalous Thermal Behavior

As the sun was rising from behind the mountain,
there was expectation in my heart that I cannot share -
I could do nothing but staring at......
with expectation, my body temperature was rising too,
the sun didn't know about that.

The first rays - a delicate mixture of gold and red -
do you call it metallic or the term becomes mundane?
The eternal rays touched my eyes, my face,
all expectations turned into excitement -
I was all smiles that only the first rays could see.

They say it is Vitamin D,
for me it is my 'Day',
was it April? I'm not sure -
doesn't make a difference
whether it was March or May.

I saw a swarm of bees
and a skein of geese -
quanta by quanta, I received light
for my existence, life - all life.

The first sunrays that I bathed in
that I had drunk to my heart's content -
in words I can't describe them
for me all these and many more were sent.

As I received more and more rays
my body temperature came down,
I didn't understand the underlying science -
it was an anomalous thermal effect
hitherto unexplained.
