Another Year Poem by Jacob Diederiks

Another Year

So another year passes and it's that time again,
Time to remember with nostalgia every moment,
Every moment of a year gone by with ups and downs again,
So open up your soul, open up your heart, just for a moment.

Let me see inside your deepest darkest secrets,
The parts of the year you regret with every part of you.
Then cry out about each and every momentarily blissful secret,
Whilst keeping in mind that everything that has happened has formed you.

It's that time of year when new resolutions run riot.
When empty promises are made without thinking,
When new dreams are made like; I wish I was a pilot,
And everyone is left to their own minds pondering.

Don't forget for a moment the people you happened to meet.
Or the places you happened to stumble upon in this years journey.
But remember to forgive those hurtful people you had to meet,
And that places are empty buildings: only part of the journey.

Take a quick look at pictures from the start of the year.
Indulge in the emotion and feeling of a lasting memory.
Then quickly compare to those taken at the end of the year,
And realize how much you've grown, keeping the past a memory.

Don't let your chilling doors freeze over just yet, I'm not finished,
Because a new chapter has begun, a new chance to get warm.
See this as a new beginning, cos' God is far from finished,
Finished with you! He want you and He wants you warm.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A poem about the start of the year when we all make new years resolutions that are so far fetched that we decide to just give up on them from the start.
