The countdown began, three two one go!
The rockets then blasted, with a great blow
The belts they grew tighter as they soared through the sky
On a three man mission, with courage so high
Two days gone by, the checklists were done
The three men worked fast, gearing as one
Then one looked out a window, and gave a great sigh
The other two followed, and saw the same sight
In the blackness of space, they saw a small ball
Hanging in darkness, the Earth looked so small
The astronauts wondered how it could be
That the Earth that they loved was the size of a pea
The mission had stated that they go find the moon
But what they then realized was that they went far too soon
The oasis below still needed much fixing
It was ravaged in war and love was long missing
And with this I leave you to think of our world
Our small little planet, the one little pearl
It cries and it weeps every day and each year
So maybe it’s time to get rid of the tears
Let’s stop all this nonsense
All the wars and the violence
We’re all the same species, despite any difference
We can believe what we want and not ring any bells
As one thing is for sure, that the Earth is not well
