Apology And Promise Poem by Alex Brawn Windrealm

Apology And Promise

I'm a child to your grace
Breathing malnourishment in your face.
I long for self-deceit,
And walk at a stranger's pace.

And you discuss disgrace
Like the One who put you in this place,
But I've made mine filthy to men
Who've lost discretion to selfish waste.

You see me for who I really am.
You've given me strength to reverse this fall;
For shame that I've fallen in your arms.

I'm sober of this spiteful dance,
No longer learning from its trance.
I've come to the knowledge of my need:
Only you, and the One above my stance.

I was a tyrant
Trading memory for merit.
I was the creeper with many names.
I was your traitor; I am your lover; I will always be in your heart.

You see me for what I'm worth above.
You've given me courage to reverse this fall.
For shame that I've fallen in love.

Tomorrow's sunshine burns my ever dimmer
Conscience from the inward.
I am ashes rising from who I was.
I will sail away from these embers.

I will follow One course
Carefully, and endure One manner of life.
I will be the persecuted with One purpose.
I was your parasite; I am your paramour; I will always heed these words.
