Appeasement Poem by Stephanie Sharma

Appeasement

You can't reason with a fool because wisdom and truth they care nothing about. You can't hear the dead talking in their graves, but you can speak on their behalf. You can't make a man or woman understand the value of human life, when they do not value their own. You can't stop the aggressor or bully from being toxic, by giving into what they want because their appetite continues to grow, and satisfaction is never obtained. You can't reason with irrational people because logical reasoning is foreign to them. So, when I hear talk in the morning on the local news, how politicians and others in political offices are debating how to negotiate with people such as these terrorist group, in particular ISIS. I find this very troubling because we are appeasing those who do not see the value of human life, wisdom, logic, truth or justice. Has history taught us nothing? The enemy that is appeased only slithers back in their hole, like the snake that they are to only ponder more of their wicked ways, to only strike again another day. The return is more demanding and more damaging than before. The only way to deal with a serpent such as this is to grab it by the head and snap its neck, so it does not bite again.
