Are we ready to loose the chains of white supremacy that have bound Black folks and prevented us from reaching our greatest potential?
Are we ready to topple, desecrate and destroy every idol, statue and name inscribed that caused harm to black folks?

I'll give 5 stars, but not for the poem's poetry, but for the topic(s) and in hopes that I prompt others to read MY COMMENTS.
P.S. I'm sure many black, brown, and other non-'white' people came (not as slaves) to this country by their own choice. And I'm sure many 'enjoy' the 'fruits' of American 'more' than I do! ! ! : )))) bri
When I think of a fine, famous, black person, I tend to think of Mohammed Ali (once known as Cassius Clay. He was a great boxer, speaker, and pacifist. He went to jail rather than submit to the military draft during the 'Vietnam War'.
I would use 'anybody' or 'anyone', not 'nobody' in your last stanza, THOUGH I may have heard 'nobody' used....[as you've used it].... by whites, blacks, and others. ,
Btw, I am 'white', though my 4th wife (a Japanese) used to call me 'pink'. I'm of Irish and English ancestry. People can be cruel in many ways. I apologize to any people [of any color etc.] for any maltreatment you or 'yours' have received. bri : )
*** Malcolm X, originally Malcolm Little, was born in Omaha, Nebraska. After moving to the Midwest with his family at a young age, he suffered great tragedy with the alleged suicide of his father and the subsequent institutionalization of his mother.'
Last stanza: I assume Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X ***. The others I don't 'know'. (cont.)
Maybe you can develop a poem around these 3 lines: It is now. It is us. But we are not the same. Our ancestors have taught us so well.'
I've got (I think) on PH one or two poems involving me and 'blacks'. My high school class in western NYS had, I think,125 students, about 5 of which I were black: Leroy, Lionel, Delores, & 2 other girls/women. I knew of no discrimination towards them.
This could use CLARIFICATION/EXPLANATION: The revolution will not be televised…… but the insurrection of disgruntled hateful white supremacist will be AMAN and AWOMAN' Hmm?
(cont.) [[ Are you, Sweet Carolina, stumping*** for Trump? ? ]] *** STUMP (as intransitve verb: '2: to go about making political speeches or supporting a cause'
'We have nothing to lose but our chains' Where does THAT quote come from and what does it refer to? ? ? ? AND WHY throw this at us: 'WE all saw what happened at the Capital.'? ? ? (cont.)
I've read some about slavery in America. I've also read that some Africans were sold to some European slave-shippers by OTHER BLACK AFRICANS.
This black vs. white, & slave vs. free men (and women) 'discussion' is NOT CLEAR-CUT.
oops! ! ! that last comment was sent before it was complete. As I was saying: ....NOT saying....should say: 'Thanks for the ride to South Carolina (or Virginia etc.) '
ave owners! '(cont.) I'm NOT going to say Africans loaded on boats to America, or their descendants, should say 'Thanks, s
Are we ready to provide reparations to the ALL the descendants of enslaved Africans? ' I DON'T THINK SO (at least not cash) ! How about Native American and other slaves etc., etc. (cont.)
Are we ready to right the wrongs caused by the medical community that has led to mistrust? ' This & other lines 'beg a Poet's Notes'. Also I'd use 'have', not 'has'.
Are we ready to close the jails and privately owned prisons that have capitalized off of black bodies? ' I wonder if the owners and employees of private jails are all non-black. Would you be satisfied if jails and prisons were 'publicly-owned'? ? ?
i CAN TELL OTHERS HOW YOU/THEY MAY SEE COMMENTS LEFT ON THEIR POEMS before THE COMMENTS SHOW UP ON POEM PAGE(S) .
