Are we tired
or is life tired of us?
Pulling on its strings,
maybe we’re pulling on its neck.
The rings around it
were scabs; now they bleed.
There are echoed cries;
The past prisoners
dab alcohol upon
these unsuspicious skin
and chipping bones.
