Are You Alone? Poem by Zechariah Macon

Are You Alone?

Are you waking?
Glass tears open the sky
dreaming
its return to your mirrors
your cupboards
your dining room
painted
an unhealthy shade of red

Are you waking?
Faucet water spills from the
sky
seeking
drainage your
sewer lines
your sink in the kitchen
dirty
dirty dishes in the sink

Are you waking?
Unwashed your
clothes in the riverbed
bathing
return to your dresser
your skin
your closet
your closeness
dry
your eyes now

Are your waking?
Waiting
Wishing
Want
your dreams
from the sky
like water
like your glass
returning
to your walls
safely
painted
an unhealthy
shade of red?
