Ario Nahavandi's Poem Poem by Ario Nahavandi

Ario Nahavandi's Poem

How Did Someone Like Me?

How did someone lost like me,
With all my faults for all to see,
With every sin, each bad old way,
Find an angel meant to stay?

My heart, a town left cold, alone,
Disconnected, overgrown—
You built a bridge, you made it whole,
Brought back reason, gave it soul.

You brushed the dust off hidden scars,
Chased away my haunting stars.

You are like rain in quiet night,
Like birds that sing at morning light,
Like skies so blue, so pure, so free,
Like hunger's end, like warmest tea.
Like coffee's scent on London's street,
Like home where love and safety meet.

You melted gold to mend my past,
Repaired the cracks to make me last.
You pulled the knot, you set me free—
A lost crow's fate was changed by thee.
