Armageddon Poem by Sartaj Manhas

Armageddon

In the darkness in the rain,
Climbing every mountain shrieking in pain.
With every step counting the falling pebbles,
Feeling the correctness in the critics and the rebels.

He now stands on the summit,
And rejoices upon reaching the limit.
But just then strikes the light,
Suddenly changing the dark environ bright.
Through his chest passes the thunder,
After the moments of ecstacy comes the blunder.
But the fighter doesn't fall.
Instead he gets up and answers this fatal call.
He remembers jesus and places forth his cross.
For a moment the winds fall silent and there aren't any smelling moss.
The sky suddenly turns into a battleground,
With howling clouds in shapes of knights and hound.
Many flashes striike and so do man's gospels,
The extravaganza so exquisite it could be seen from the Alcatraz cells.
The Armageddon lasted the entire dark.
But then came the sun and the chirping lark.
It had holly in her beak,
And she landed on the peak.
The battle finally ended.
God took over and everything was again splendid....
