Arrow Poem by Naveed Khalid

Arrow

Nothing stirrs the mind in heaven's high bower
but YOU, my heart's most eloquent other---
oft makes me wonder at thy holy eyen,
of what I lack in when I am at a loss for words,
I look up to a shooting STAR of a far-fetched sky;
away from this dreary night thy feet to tread; weaves a silken-satin around my head,
that bridge o'er the rainbow
has a drown'd boat in the ocean green,
thy myrtle crown of white arrayed ribbons,
is brought to the sands of the sea-shore,
beside the oak, a cottage-tree with apple tarts
looks me through day's old rhetoric;
the majestic sun at my door in whose tress
of golden hair, a cup-shelled flower!
that Our Lord has call'd for a mirror
unto my shipwrecked love, thy son.21
