Art Of Food Poem by Rue Palmer

Art Of Food

If you ever try to diet on a Monday,
the universe will laugh by noon—
the office brings in donuts,
and someone warms up pizza too soon.

If you decide to wake up early,
be "productive, " sharp, and bright,
your alarm will stage a protest
and snooze itself back into night.

If you say, "I'll save my money, "
be responsible, refined—
your shoes will suddenly fall apart
and a sale will read your mind.

If you try to act mysterious,
cool, collected, hard to read,
you'll trip on nothing in public
at a very impressive speed.

If you promise, "No more drama, "
peaceful days, a calmer view—
your phone will buzz with chaos
like it's got a job to do.

So if you plan your life too tightly,
neat and perfectly in view,
just remember—life's favorite hobby
is improvising you.
