As Points Of Light Poem by Burt Poole

As Points Of Light

Ten million lights of kindness,
each shining in its place,
Would brighten up our nation
and inspire the human race.
Just helping one another as
the problems come each day,
Would chase away much darkness
and put goodness on display.
Yes, better times are coming
for our nation, great and free,
But how soon that bright tomorrow
depends on you and me.
We must reach out to our neighbors,
give to each a helping hand,
Show the homeless and the hungry
that there’s love throughout our land.
Then, by our good example, the
youth would learn the right.
Ten million points of kindness,
making this a land of light.
The seniors and the young folk,
and all those in between,
The healthy and the sick ones,
the students with their dreams.
The native-born and immigrants,
the wealthy and the poor…
All these makeup America—yes
these and many more.
And each one is important, God’s
creature by design.
We are made for one another that
together we might shine.
So, let us stand together and
lift the ones who fall.
Ten million lights of kindness- -
“All for One and One for All.'
