As the moon
Quietly stands in the shadows
In awe of the sun
Who in all her radiant glory
Lights the world
Giving life to all the earth and its creatures
Bringing joy
And dance
And laughter
Spilling through the woodlands
And glistening on the dewdrops
Giving the river her sparkle
And the child her smile
As the moon
Silently stands
Watching
Absorbing
The warmth
The light
As the sun plays with creation
When the sun leaves her work
And the earth is wrapped in cold and darkness
Wondering
Why
Where
Did the glorious Sun forsake us
To leave us imprisoned by the night?
Then the Moon rises
As a light in the darkness
Beaming his soft, pure light from the Sun
And we all look up
And are comforted
Knowing that we are not alone
For as the Moon is seen in the darkness
Only because he submitted to the greater Light
And soaked in her glory
So must the saints bow to their Lord
Knowing Him
Watching Him
So they too may shine their Lord’s light
In the dark world.
