Ascent - Poem by Glen Ruff

We are brothers, you and I
In our struggle to reach the sky
To expand the horizon far below
To learn, to grow, to know
To view the scene that never man has seen
To reach and break the invisible screen
From these heights we may see afar
Put out a hand and touch a star
But, what good is victory if not shared?
An empty prize, if no one cared
Only together can we advance and grow
They rise highest who lift as they go
