Asylum Poem by Phillip Dodham Cormier

Asylum

The walls enclose around me
I try to reach out but it seems my arms are bound
Men in lab coats stare at me through a slot in the door
I scream for them to let me out
The slot shuts
I'm alone again
The walls forever closing in on me
No escape
The jacket I wear keeps me bound
The walls close in around me
I feel trapped in a small room
Yet I can easily stand
The walls are always encroaching
No escape
Why am I here?
I can hear the lab coats rustle
The sound haunts my dreams
The poking the prodding
Light from the moon filters into the room
A small barred window
My only escape to the real world
No escape
NO ESCAPE
