At Rikki's Cafe Poem by Justin Gildow

At Rikki's Cafe

I walk in through a beaded curtain
And at Rikki's cafe
It's pretty much business as usual
Everything for the most part is casual

Finding a table to sit at
I sit down and mind my own business for
a few minutes
While waiting for someone to take my order
At the far end of Rikki's Cafe
A band is setting up their instruments and
equipment

After a few minutes
A waitress pays me a visit and takes my order

The singer of the band gives me a smile
as she walks on by
And after that
I decide to stick around and hear the band play
As well as hear her sing

After some time has passed
Everyone inside Rikki's cafe is getting set to hear
the band play
As it appears to be showtime now
The band get on stage and appear ready
to entertain us

They play great pop music
And perfect ballads
They play a wonderful set of songs
They play a perfect show

After they finish
Applause follows

After the show
I pay for my order at the table
And step outside for some fresh air

Everything inside and outside seems
to have been successful
At Rikki's cafe
