At Starbucks Poem by Justin Gildow

At Starbucks

The morning sun has come
And has chased away the night
Pulling into the parking lot
The time is right
At least for now
To head to Starbucks

At Starbucks
Nice music plays on
The baristas are hard at work
Yet they're always happy to see me
Offering me a choice of hot chocolate,
frappuccino, or some variety of tea

At Starbucks
I know the employees here
They all know me
Some know me better than others
Yet, I respect them all just the same

Hot chocolate is served to me
In a tall mug

Sitting with my cup
I make conversation with the baristas
Some have hopes
Some have dreams
Some have goals
Some have ambitions
I respect them all for that
I probably don't have the drive
that they do
But I send and give them my encouragement
They appreciate that

At Starbucks
It's an escape for me
Away from the tough reality
of the real world
Somehow, I always make time for them
Always give time for all the baristas
From beginning to end
When I'm there
They appreciate it

At Starbucks
Whether hot chocolate, frappuccino,
or tea
Always a challenge for me
Always a decision for me
Always a choice for me
Yet I love all three
