At The Wedding Poem by Stephen Kata

At The Wedding

You repeated truthfully,
even passionately:

“In sickness and in health, ” and
“Until death do us part, ” and, “I do.”

You never dreamed that fate
might call you on all of it.

Your life together
stretched out before you.

You had, or so you thought,
all the time in the world.
