Atlantis Poem by Herbert Kaufman

Atlantis

Rating: 5.0

Out in the chill seas of yesterday,
Where the waters are aching and break in tear spray,
And the beat of the waves that come crashing in pain
Are the sob-throbs of anguish and souls gone insane,
There's a dear little island- the Land of We Two,
Calling to me, sweetheart, calling to you.

Back o'er the waters and through the tear spray,
Saddened and gladdened I'm sailing away,
Back to the Land of You Must and You Can't,
Back to the game with its big rule of Shan't;
Dear little island and wonderful one,
Why in the world were you ever begun?

Piece of great elegance, well articulated and insightfully penned in good rhyme scheme with conviction. Lovely romantic poem subtly written from the heart in beautiful poetic diction. Thanks for sharing.
