Audience Of Many Poem by Simple Desires

Audience Of Many

Rating: 5.0

A single entertainer
Scared of the stage
Worried to go on
For there is an audience to engage

What if a movement is missed?
And act not performed?
A note not quite hit?
Or a thought left unturned?

Thousands of eyes will watch
As the entertainer performs
To an Audience of many
From which no one may learn

An incredible story to tell
An unknown secret to share
But who will be listening
And who is going to care?

The entertainer prepares
With unsteady hands
To share with the audience
Everything he can

An emotional insight
A look into the heart
Something difficult to share
But such a beautiful piece of art

And as these fears and worries
Rattle in his chest
The entertainer looks up
and takes a deep breath

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
As a musician I've performed in front of people a fair amount of times. This poem reflects on the idea of stage fright, it's often the thoughts in our own minds before performing that scare us the most. And when sharing my own work I'm often wondering what it will mean to other people, how they will grasp it and what it may mean to them.
