Australian Dream Poem by Tandin Wangchuk

Australian Dream

Australian dream

A visa is granted
Luggage packed
Families happy or sad or both
An Aussie dream is born
Oh no, the dream is born
In the cleaner's room,
Fruit and veg store
In the hotel, while changing linen
Hands are gnarled
Driving a hatchback
Engine oil leaking beneath
Dave, Rick, Amy and Emma
Greets good morning, how are you?
But doesn't wait for the reply
changes name so that
It's convenient for
Dave, Rick, Amy and Emma
kindly nodding, "okay sir or madam"
