Autumn - Poem by Shayne Nicolas

Crackling leaves beneath my feet
I crunch a few between my bare toes
paper thin they crumble
the musky smell
cradled by the soft breeze
fills my nostrils and lingers

I raise my face to the Autumn sun
and feels it’s warm glow kiss my cheeks
it is soothing
There is a quiet peacefulness
as the bamboo windchimes
echo their slow stumpy applause
And a distance plane
hums in its flight.
The sky takes on a lazy orange glow
to mirror the earths’ browns, reds and yellows

I sigh a breath of happiness and I close my eyes
to take a moment
and enjoy this Autumn day.
