Awake Poem by Joseph Lee

Awake

Stay awake and stay alert
The caffeine drinks are wearing thin
I'm still not done what I have to do
So sleep cannot kick in

Should I wash my face with cold water?
Should I brew up another pot?
Should I just stop and start tomorrow?
For my brain is about to rot

No, I must stay awake now
Be gone you soldiers of sleep
I will fight you through weary eyes
On a hill that's not to steep

Hey! Where'd that dragon come from?
Oh look an alien too
And my best friend is here
I guess he can help me through

I have a sword with a fiery tip
The dragon I must slay
But the alien seems so random
And only gets in the way

Fight the massive dragon
Pierce the heart with steel
Then suddenly I wake up
Wow that dream seemed real.
