Awaken Poem by Kay Lynn Kirchoff

Awaken

Time fades quickly, as memories pass by
I look back thinking what I could have done differntly
I've done many things wrong, and very little right
I was heading down the path of destrution and fright
Not knowing where to turn to next, I covered the pain with drugs
Now I'm looking back wishing I had not done so.
I'm not like my mother or father
I'm stronger, I pick myself up and dust myself off
Weeks grow shorter, days are longer
Time passes me by till I hit my train wreck of mistakes
I couldn't believe what I had done
I didn't think it was coming so fast,
It hit me like a speeding car on a highway, I woke up not knowing what happened, or why I would let it,
I just knew something had to change, fast
