Ballet - Night Sketches Poem by Patrice Toulouse

Ballet - Night Sketches

Commissioned pieces: Ballet, four sketches

An animal struggles
In your clenched fist
Your flesh tensely shelters
A boundless echoing shreak
In one only motion
Up from the hollow night
You will set up
Your dwelling

Bones and fibers tangled
Your limbs taut as a glance
Celebrate a wedding
With a round barren ground
Offering imploration
Outline a glaring sky
There will stand a tall tree
Alive with future birds

You're alone
Hollow
Frozen
Dismembered
High winds beyond memory
Blow off from porous flesh
Sharp slender sand plumes
Your first step will
Give birth at break o'day
To a neverheard song

Scattered gestures
Figureless flow
A crowd rustles
The earth's astray
Listen
In the blossoming while
Dire discord dies
A shared silence
Delivers a new dawn
