Bar Gone Days Poem by Tom Balch

Bar Gone Days

Although it had changed
it still had that
familiar (yesterday) feeling
as I stepped inside.

The years may have
painted over the memories
but our laughter in those
long gone days
still danced the beams.

We spent many of our
youthful hours here
enjoying our moment
being friends and
just being together.

It was here that we talked
of our dreams and the future,
it was here that the bond
of true friendship was formed,
and it is here that I return
in search of the past.

As my finger drags years of
dust from the ledge of the window
I look out onto the street and wonder
where are those friends now
and what became of the dreams...........
