Beautiful Butterflies Lying On The Cement Poem by Sara Hol

Beautiful Butterflies Lying On The Cement

Rating: 5.0

Oh, Beautiful butterfly lying on the cement,
what had happened when I was not present?
Your family and friends have been searching
but you are nowhere to be found
because lying here, broken, you have been flattened onto the ground.

Why does the world work so dangerously cold?
Stories never exaggerated when told
as everything gathering beauty is broken down.
Just another neglected thing, collecting dust and lying around.

Lying in the shadows, waiting for the sun
searching for a road to escape and overcome,
but the sun refuses to show, so we have to gain courage
to run out in the dark and try not to become discouraged.

Each blackened and ridiculing face,
prepares us for life's drastic embrace
but gaining strength we have to build a wall
and when necessary, allow that wall to fall.

Once the wall has been built, it remains to stay
even if someone requests to enter one day,
Some are broken, as some never fall,
they just end up on the ground enabled to crawl.

We are all beautiful butterflies
lying on the cement.

I like the aspect you took on this..your perspective on the world, compared with the metaphor of a smashed butterfly. Good poem
