Beautiful Lie Poem by Kirsten Ogden

Beautiful Lie

Rating: 0.5

Even if yours weren't,
my words were true.
Unbelievably enough,
I still think of you.

I hope everything you did
was worth it in the end.
What happened to us
I still don't understand.

Things seemed so right,
everything fell into place.
I still dream of your touch,
and that familiar taste.

The wound is still there
and not a day goes by,
when I think of you,
and tell myself not to cry.

In the beginning it was butterflies,
and the reminder to breathe.
Instead I'm now left with the truth,
and the knowledge of what will never be.

I know I made the right choice
by saying my last goodbye,
I didn't want to live
in your beautiful lie.
