Beautiful Moon - Poem by Nnenna Okonkwo

Imagine a thing so perfect round bright high majestic outstanding.
No rays I see but a true blazing brightness illuminating the land.
Every detail is visible
The brilliance unmistakable.
Frosty though it may be, a warm glow emanates.

I look up absorbing the feeling of amazement that holds me
“My word! ” I exclaim. “I saw you but a few days ago
A wee smile you were”
Then you were gone but not for long.

I gaze up high to the dark skies.
Seeking you from behind thin clouds, trying to hide your form.
But I see you clearly.
Just a few more days
And all your light will shine in perfect circumference.

Behold, now I look again
What a wonder.
