About myself when asked to talk,
A task which made me balk.
Oh! I felt so shy,
Then said I'll give it a try.
All across the ages,
Admired alike by sinners and sages,
Adored by lovers,
Stood out amongst flowers.
Named are others after some colour,
By myself I am a colour,
I am a fragrance in my own name,
And for food a flavour putting others to shame!
At times on a commoners gown,
At times on the head wearing the crown,
Am there in the front to welcome,
Also in the wreath when someones time has come.
Kings kneeling have held me close,
Before the lady they would propose,
The emotions in their hearts rising and flowing,
In me meeting and uniting.
Caring for my beauty,
Even nature took as it's duty,
Preventing the unwanted coming near,
Put thorns around like sentries with spear.
Beauty in poety or prose,
To describe when the need arose,
it was me, the rose,
They often chose.
You surely have given the rose expression through your poetry. Beautifully written.
Well conceived and nicely crafted in persuasive poetic expressions with conviction. A beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing, Vijay.
