Because I Was There Poem by Faduma Muhammed

Because I Was There

There she sat
In the dark corner
Crying in her palms
Looking over your shoulder

Because no one was there

Depression took over
Her poor soul
Every time she tried to get up
She fell deeper into the hole

Because no one was there

Darkness surrounds her
Showing her no light
Fighting all on her own
Not knowing whats wrong from right

Because no was there

She couldn't fight it no more
She had thought of suicide
But that's when i extended my hand
And together, we threw all hatred aside

Because I was there.
