Becoming The Adult I Am - Poem by lynn ann

I dont recognize the person i was
and I dont know why no one likes the person ive become
People must like crazy and naiive
I look back and I dont know who that was
But I think im better off now
Just wish i was in a happy place
wish i knew how to be excited and constantly awake
but i'm losing memory of what it felt like
But I think im proud of myself for growing up
sorry you dont like me now
You treat me like a stranger
We no longer can connect
Its like you think im someone else
But i think its because i am
Life changed me
experiences morphed me into the person i am
I'm sorry you think I'm boring
I'm sorry i dont remember how to have fun
but I think i like myself better now
I think i like being able to control myself
always Thinking before talking
I think I like having guidlines
rather than living in the moment
I dont remember how to be confident
But i think i like myself better now
because i believe theres always room for improvement
I think I like not getting into trouble
I think i enjoy the quiet time
I think I like studying and staying inside
I think i am a better person
Just wish i could remember how to feel happiness
I wish I could smile without it feeling fake
I wish my cheeks would go back into place
But i think i like myself better now
I think i like staying on the safe side
I think i like the adult ive become
I'm sorry im forgetting who i was
I'm sorry i changed
I'm sorry that child no longer exists
