Beethoven's Symphony No.9 Poem by RIC BASTASA

Beethoven's Symphony No.9

the little Chinese boy who comes
from a rich family was only trying to impress
his classical music teacher who was teaching
him how to play the piano when he
behaves more of a philosophical disciple
in saying that he finally found what he
lost at home.

that he likes Beethoven or Mozart or even
Strauss remains to be a big question at his age
when kites and marbles and hide and seek
please him more than the notes in the piano
or the boring music books under her strict
tutelage.

if he behaves to be more of a boy rather
than a classical musician in the future
which mom and dad and grandpa and grandma
and uncles and aunties dream him to be,
that would be creating a huge mess in the
musical lineage of the family.

and i just wonder how such a teacher with a soul
for music could have
missed his glowing eyes which were looking at
the other boys playing in the park when he said
that he really loves Beethoven and his symphony No.
9 and that he wanted to stay in the classroom
at this hour when 9 children were enjoying life
to the fullest in the open fields under the blue sky.
