Behind These Hazel Eyes Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes Mister

Behind These Hazel Eyes

Behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a heart that's torn in two,
Once so full of love and light,
Now nothing seems quite true.
Seems like just yesterday,
You were a part of me,
Standing tall and strong,
With your arms around me.
But now I can't breathe,
My heart feels so heavy,
Can't sleep through the night,
My soul is unsteady.
Broken up, deep inside,
But I won't show the pain,
Behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a story of disdain.
I used to tell you everything,
Opened up and let you in,
You made me feel alright,
In a world full of sin.
But now all that's left,
Is a shell of who I used to be,
Pretending to be whole,
But inside, I'm barely hanging on, you see.
Swallowed up by the hurt,
Spit out by the lies,
I blame myself for hating you,
For the tears that I now cry.
I thought you were the one,
My heart believed the lie,
But now I see the truth,
Behind these hazel eyes.
Once unbreakable and strong,
Now shattered and falling apart,
I can't deny the pain,
That you've caused in my heart.
I used to stand so tall,
But now I'm bent and bruised,
My love for you was pure,
But yours was just a ruse.
I can't pretend anymore,
That I'm not hurt and broken,
Behind these hazel eyes,
My true feelings are awoken.
I try to hide my tears,
But they flow like a river,
For you won't get to see,
The pain you've caused forever.
I remember the days,
When we were so in love,
But now that love is gone,
And I'm left with just a dove.
A symbol of peace,
In a world full of war,
But behind these hazel eyes,
My heart is still sore.
I used to feel so alive,
With your arms around me tight,
But now I'm just a shell,
Of what I once was in your sight.
I can't sleep through the night,
For my mind is tormented,
With memories of us,
And the love that we once presented.
But it was all a facade,
A mask that you wore,
And behind these hazel eyes,
I see the truth once more.
I try to move on,
But I'm torn into pieces,
For I gave you my all,
And now my heart slowly decreases.
I don't cry on the outside,
But inside I am shattered,
For you were my everything,
But now all that love is scattered.
Behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a story of pain,
But I won't let it define me,
For I will rise again.
I may be broken,
But I am not defeated,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a strength that can't be depleted.
I will learn to love myself,
In a way that you never could,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Is a heart that's misunderstood.
I may never forget,
The love that we shared,
But I will move on,
And show that I still cared.
So here I am, once again,
But now I'm stronger than before,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a warrior, ready for war.
I won't let you break me,
Or leave me in despair,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Is a woman who can repair.
So thank you, for the heartache,
For the tears behind these eyes,
For they have opened my eyes,
To a love that was built on lies.
But I will rise from the ashes,
And soar like a phoenix,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a strength that is limitless.
No longer will I be torn,
Into pieces by your deceit,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Is a heart that will not retreat.
So here I am, once again,
But now I'm whole and free,
For behind these hazel eyes,
Lies a love that's meant for me.
