The light never meets her eyes
Behind them lay a dead sunrise
A hardened smile perfectly in place
Masking life's painful bitter taste
War rages inside for control
Mistrust plagues the mind to implode
Torn decisions, punished mistakes
The darkest demons all eagerly await
A heart so loving, turned so cold
The price is so high to let it all go
She struggles to choke another pill down
Tempery relief from the piercing sounds
A promise of numbing peace offered everyday
Instead she still wonders through life's hellish maze
