Being In This Place Poem by Kacy Loukota

Being In This Place

I watch as the people around me move in blurs, the boy and the girl speaking low.
I focus my time towards the emptiness inside of me.
Being in this place
Helps me know how to act.
Helps me know what to say.
Helps me know when to smile.

I watch as the girl starts crying.
I focus my energy towards the emptiness she might be feeling.
Being in this place.
Helps him tell her the news.
Helps him get away without a fight.
Helps him be a coward.

I watch as her heart breaks.
You can see it on her face, I focus on the one tear...
Being in this place.
Helps her be strong.
Helps her walk away.
Helps her turn back one time to see where he went.

I watch as she catches my eye.
I focus my eyes on hers.
Being in this place.
Helps me see the hurt on her face.
Helps me see that she doesn't actually care.
Helps me see that people aren't what they seem

I watch as she smiles at me, an evil glint.
I focus on what seems to be a darkness leaving the girl.
Being in this place.
Helps me in no sort of way.
I makes me scared.
People aren't what they seem.
I turn my eyes towards the ground and I can't remember why I'm in this place.
