Being & Nothing Poem by Hugh Joseph Curran

Being & Nothing

Rating: 3.5

BEING & NOTHING

We strive for the essence
of non-being, believing it
better to do nothing than
to do wrong;

das nichts nichtet,
nothing knots itself while
being in things is not
being in itself;

One letter does not
follow the other,
post hoc ergo propter hoc;

The substance
of quiddity is
not the essence,
since the essence
is always present,
but unfelt.
