Beloved What Can You See? Poem by Sylvia Lukeman

Beloved What Can You See?

Rating: 2.8

Climbing up the hillside I asked him what he could see,
maybe rugged rocks, floaty clouds or swaying wild flowers galore;
oh no, answered my sweetheart, he could only see me.
an answer like that was a warm surprise I can assure.

Whilst looking over the river, when on a ferry boat
again I asked my darling man what could he see.
perhaps soaring seagulls, storm clouds gathering, maybe.
none of these, he murmured, for he had only eyes for me.

And walking home in the glowing moonlight
we stopped and this time he asked me,
pray sweet beloved, tell me, what is it that you see
and shyly I responded... a passionate man in love with me.
