Benin City Poem by Esselebor Ebhojie

Benin City

Gourds
From our sprouted Kingdom
Heated Furnace
Cool Wood Splint
Casted Bronze
Regalia of the dancers
At Igue Festival

Upon Oba's palace
I fix my sights
Spirits
Seeking survival
Osanobua
Alive in these streets
Travellers Rendezvous
What treasures
Ancient Traditions
Have you kept
Smelted in your modern ring

Benin City
