Bent Under Age Comments

This poem, which is inspired by sorrows and indeed weighed down by them, still ends in a gratuitous expression of gratitude. I think that is a wonderful turning in the poem - and quite unexpected. We do forgive people who have been traumatized from following certain rules of behavior, but your grattitude seems to derive from a much deeper resource, an abundance of good will in your psyche. None of this meant to detract from the grief and loss this poem conveys as its primary theme. To take the initiative to express gratitude when your heart is weighed down with grief shows a nobleness of spirit in you that I want to acknowledge.
