The teddy bear lay in the little baby’s crib
With a smile that never fades,
A smile that can wipe the tears from those eyes,
And bring you to your happier ways.
The teddy bear lay in the young toddler’s bed
With fur as soft as snow,
Fur you just want to cuddle and cuddle,
And cuddle and never let go.
The teddy bear sat on the teenager’s shelf
With arms open wide,
Patiently waiting for someone to hug,
Just waiting to comfort your cries.
The teddy bear lay in an old garbage bag
Rotting and rotting from dust,
With a smile and fur and arms open wide,
Or was that just never enough?
And now the teddy bear lies in a broken boy’s arms
Broken from the laughs and the cries.
At least you’ll always have one caring friend,
To wipe the tears from your eyes.
