Bet On Me - Poem by Abby Kimball

It's hard to remember yourself
with everyone else
staring at what your wearing
and counting what your worth
loving who you were
and hating your rebirth
feeling odd and out of place
with your new facade
trying to survive
in this premature decade

and if you think your gonna die
pop a pill and let it slide
the world's a junkie
(so are you)
trying to get by
death's all the rage
push away hope and take the stage
look out at the audience
they are all just like you
trying to get by

Take your records and take you booze
take your love and your stupid shoes
go ahead and bet
you've got nothing else to lose
but if you bet on another girl
I'll bet she's not like me

And if you wanna die
pull the trigger
let it glide
because the world is terrible
so are you
we're all trying to get by
death's all the rage
push away hope and take the stage
look out into the audience
at all those staring eyes
they are just like you
trying to get by

and if you think your gonna die
pop a pill
let it slide
the world's a junkie
so are you
trying to get by
death's all the rage
push away hope and take the stage
go ahead and take a bow
it's all up to us now
