Betrayal Poem by Carole Moran

Betrayal

A familiar sinking sensation comes
When my mind understands a new hopelessness;
Another quest gone awry,
Another love lost,
Another darkness.

I stand alone, feeling it fully inside
As I gaze on a silent, vacant street unaware;
And wonder why?
Why again me?
What next?

I remember my first disillusionment
As a child, when my faith was destroyed
By those who knew best,
Who held the power,
Who used me.
