'Betterfly' Poem by Sharon Mosley

'Betterfly'

Like a butterfly
From its cocoon
Set free
With outstretched wings
Eager to discover new things
Determined to embrace the winds
How it often seems
That there is a 'betterfly' in me
Restless
Zealous
Taking to the air
With no concerns, no cares
What a wonderful feeling!
Of peace and serenity
Flowing
Traveling
In search of destiny
Stopping to rest awhile
Only when the wind stops blowing
Soon to soar again
Persuaded to keep going
Inclined to keep soaring
With purpose and potential as wings
Hope and faith as guides
Eyes fixed on the prize
I think I better fly
Better keep accelerating
Better keep rising
Better keep striving
Until I reach a final landing
Only after discovering
Life's great meaning!
