Promises, Are Sacred
So Is A Sworn Oath Or Vow
That Is Why I’m Very Careful
To Just Say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, Now … (Matt.5: 37)
I’ve Learned To Really Think
Before I Will Commit or Affirm
Or Negate and Say ‘I Will Never’ …
(Can’t Take It Back) , and The Other (May Return)
So, My Word Is My Honor-Bond
And We Can Shake On That
Our Word-Pact, Is A-Binding
Highest-Court, Legal Fact (Eccl.5: 4,6)
And I Won’t Try To Wiggle-Out-Of, or Squirm
From Under, If Follow-Thru Is Hard
If Fulfillment, is Still an Open-Case …
Our Remembrance, Is Our Record
… Where Liability, for A Broken Word
Is Like, The Penalty of ‘A Lifer’
To Be Sadly Known, As ‘One Not Trusted’,
‘Can’t Count-On’, ’Can’t Believe ‘em’ … ‘Liar’!
(and Liars Are Consigned to Fire – (Rev.21: 8)
… and If Ditsy, or Silly, Or Loose of Tongue
You’ll Not Be Taken Seriously
If Your Word is Always, A ‘Mistake’ or ‘Wrong’ …
That’ll Be Your History
So, If ‘I Do’, Happen At Best
To Guarantee, A Simple Request …
… ‘I Swear, I Pledge, I Vow’, … ‘I Will’ Not Rest
‘Til Yesterday’s Yoke’, Meets My, ‘Yellow-Ribbon-Yes’ …
‘Cause Promises Are Sacred
So Is A Sworn Oath Or Vow
… and Even My Very, ‘Yes or No’ …
I Know – Is Under Contract Now …
