Beyond In Colorado Poem by chris schwartz

Beyond In Colorado

You posted the pictures
From 35 years ago
Back when I had those dreams
That got blown away
By one to many
Bitter snows
Now it's too late
To worry about Colorado
It is much too late
To dream of the mountains
I can't climb.

It's too late
To see past
The sunset over them mountains
But not too late
To believe
In all I've left behind.

Little red wagons
With pure hearts that
No not fear
Grow into pagans
In the minds of those
That we left here.
Still don't remember
How it all
Got so far past
I just keep thinking now
That the time wouldn't
Go so fast.

Its too late
To see past
The sunset over them mountains
But not too late
To believe
In what all I left behind.
It's so simple to see
In front of you
When life isn't
On the line
But its just as easy
To let go
When its kept you
Far behind
I'll still find
My mountains
They are waiting
On
The other side.
